FULL DISCLAIMER!!! I do not own any of the footage used, nor the show RWBY, it is property of Rooster Teeth and affiliated companies. Additionally I do not own the music "Hero". It's performed by the amazing Jeff Williams and the equally amazing Caleb Hyles! Ironwood is one of my favourite characters of all time so, here's to you!

Ironwood is a hero, Ironwood is the Tin Man with a heart.

They tried so hard to make him a villain but he died as he lived, a Hero

Ironwood, the man who risked it all even his reputation to protect remnant like a dark knight attempting to shoulder the burden alone

I always thought it was funny that they got so upset when they learned when ozpin hid the truth from them and then decided to do the same thing ozpin done to them to ironwood. I don't remember who said it or where i read it but they really could have used the lamp to ask how Salem planned to bring down atlas.

I liked how Caleb was in beat with the Ironwood motif being initiated like as a Pelican is revering his flock to stand and wings open

I expected Ironwood to die in a heroic way, not accepting his defeat.

That beard is the best thing that happens to ironwood.

Lets face it, Ironwood did NOT get the spotlight he deserved. Nor got the ending he deserved. Heck I would have supported his sudden change in hostility towards team RWBY since they deserved it, and his plan wasn't a bad one either. But it was his complete change that killed him for me.

They accidently made him into the best written character in the show
Literally wrote this man to a villain to make sure RWBY was right

Ironwood you deserved an apology....

Ironwood. The Tin man who had a heart.

They painted most of his screen time, as a trusting and trustworthy man. With 2 powerful postions, as a General and Head master of Atlas. Ironwood didn't come across as an arrogant individual.
Instead. He was overly cautious. And when he heard of a potential threat. He took it seriously.
He was confident that a strong show of force would deter any and all threats.

After Beacon fell. Ozpin disappeared. And his robotic army was turn against him. He must have truly felt the strain.
But even with all that happened. Ironwood remembered all those who were affected.
He even sent Yang, who lost her arm to Adam, during the attack. A robotic arm. Literally giving her a way over her physical impairment.

Each step from the Embargo-fixing amity. To tell Remnant the truth of Salem. Was him trying to prepare Atlas for the inevitable in fighting/ riots.

He was struggling. But getting by.
Twin inc. "Then our protagonists show up."

Wow. This was amazing. Ironwood is my favorite character in the show, though his ending could have been better (I think Cinder/Salem should have said something to the effect of ‘none of this would have been possible without you’).

He seemed like if the hero was unable to live up to the expectations of his role

I will never forgive Volume 8 for completely destroying Ironwood, my guy did not deserve his fate, he was honestly the true hero of the series (along with Penny)

His change to antagonist could have been amazing but it just kinda came out of left field, especially the whole genocidal part

Gotta love the tragedy of his character... He always wanted to do the right thing even if that affected him both mentally and physically, but he DECIDED to shut down his empathy for others and as such made his judgement incredibly flawed to make the though calls... I don't know if it's HIM who made Atlas more militaristic or if it's Atlas who made him who he is, probably a bit from both, but that mindset is what drove him far from those who called him friend...

The way I see it is that Ironwood was the tin man, the one who didn’t have a heart. He wanted so much to do the right thing but lacked the empathy to understand what exactly he was doing. This song and his character worked so well for me.

I'm going to say this again. Ironwood did nothing wrong. He actually had a plan. Vol. 8 was a complete 180 of his character because the writers made him more likable than the actual cast. They had to make him the "genocide general." The way the fandom just systematically turned on him not even realizing how he was butchered is just a reminder of how too far gone this series actually is.

Maybe in another time or another age, this series will reboot or return like the phoenix rising from ashes. But for now, I'll just watch from afar and avoid the general fandom.
