I checked into MD Anderson at 0500 hrs Friday August 25th. After a 12 hour surgery I woke up and asked a nurse if the rain had started and she told me it had. The next 5 days were surreal. Hospital was on lockdown and nobody in or out for the most part. Everyone circled the wagons and did what had to be done. It was an amazing thing to be part of and I am forever grateful to everyone who looked after me.
