How is that mast to mast mount holding up? Is it bent or has it broken yet in the wind? I'm considering using the same mount for mine and doing it just like you did.

Mounted mineto a 6 ft. length of PVC secured inside a 10ft gavanized pipe attached to an 8x8 fence post secured in cement. It sits about 18 ft. high this way. I used various pieces of mast mount hardware I had laying around, and screwed together a wide L-bracket from a scrap PVC block and a scrap piece of plastic peg board, then mounted the weather station to that.

Hey Brent!

Nice job. I've got the model #01536. I got it for a Christmas gift [bought at COSTCO] and just installed it put up this month. I mounted my sensor/station to a schedule 80 grey electrical conduit that you can get at the big box hardware store. Cut off about 24" and fastened one end to the mounting bracket and the other to the sensor. Then fastened the mounting bracket to a 4" X 4" post on the top of our patio cover with stainless steel 4" hose clamps, not the "imported" kind, neither. My sensor looks real nice up there [about 15' in the air] and works great. Now, we'll have to wait for winter to see how well the rain gauge works.

BTW, have you had to calibrate your rain gauge, or did it work perfectly out of the box?

C ya Brent!

According to the local meteorologist, to get accurate windspeed and direction the anemometer must be at least 33 feet height and clear of any obstructions (building, tree etc.). Wind whipping around buildings trees etc. change the integrity of the data you receive.

I've read on the Acu-Rite forum owners complaining that the temperature "spikes" when the sun hits the back of the 5-1 in the first part of the day in late Spring thru Fall is JUST AS inACU-Wrong! I have a 01538HD and that thing is WRONG by as much as 8 to 10 degrees from late June thru September here in So Cal. While my Ambient Pro 5 in 1 that individual sensors is SPOT ON! This company should change it's name to Acu-Wrong. Ps - I had a Acu-Rite 3-1 Wind Speed only with Temp / Humidity that crapped out in 15 months (so "too bad" on the warranty) and they've NEVER had replacement sensor modules in stock. All it is now is a $119 door stop!

Top rail fence post fits in the bottom of the weather station.

instead of using that plastic pipe, you can use a 6" length of 3/4" Sch40 Galvanized steel water pipe, avail pre-cut at Home Depot, $4.

these weatherstations are junk! went through several sensors and even a complete new unit n always the same result. the daytime temperature in the sunshine is always between 6-9 degrees too hot! also, the wind gauge has never been close to right. has never registered more than 20 mph even during hurricane harvey! also, if any bug or spider gets in the rain gauge, then that is screwed. i also have mine mounted at about 8 ft.(3 ft above the minimum height!).
