English program:

Modern dentistry increasingly prioritizes aesthetics, focusing heavily on whitening. and aligning the teeth. This often neglects the function and health of the entire neuromuscular and temporomandibular system. Current therapies tend to be conservative and additive, relying heavily on adhesives and minimally invasive orthodontics to achieve the desired tooth alignment. Unfortunately, these methods can lead to joint, vestibular, and myofascial problems after treatment and even to relapses as they fail to establish a stable, balanced occlusion that harmonizes with the neuromuscu-lar and postural system. Emerging scientific and clinical evidence highlights the strong connection between the stomatognathic apparatus (mouth and jaw system) and the entire body. This system influences the balance of organs like the ear, eye, and musculoskeletal system. In simpler terms, functional disorders of the occlusion, temporo-mandibular joint, and masticatory muscles can cause dysfunction in various areas like the head, cervical spine, scapular girdle, pelvis, lower limbs and feet, ultimately affecting a patient’s well-be-ing. These disorders can be responsible for pain symptoms that significantly impact the quality of life for children, adults, and the elderly. Biodentistry is a holistic approach to dentistry that utilizes orthodontic forces and materials that respect function, joints and neuromus-cular system. This makes biodental therapies ideal for promoting overall patient health. Discomfort from missing
teeth, forced tooth positioning, unbalanced occlusal surfaces, or a lack of minimal resilience can create cortical changes that disrupt the brain’s natural neuroplasticity.

The course aims to provide the clinician with the necessary foundations for an accurate analysis of clinical cases from a conservative, prosthetic and orthodontic point of view.
