How to use acrylic paint to pigment epoxy resin to any colour

In some of my future projects I'll be using acrylic paint to pigment my epoxy resin, and instead of going over the process in every video I'll just refer back to this one to cover the basics.

I find that acrylic paints with a smooth, creamy consistency mix best with the resin. The ones I use in this video are by Docrafts (available from The Range in the UK)

I did try some cheaper acrylic paints from a discount store, but they were quite thick in texture and did not mix well.

Thank you! Not everybody can afford UV resin, so knowing that the paint won't get cooked during the curing puts my mind at ease. I will definitely try this as I have a ton of acrylic paint.

this is incredibly helpful! I've been looking for a way to make solid coloured resin, as the only resin sold in my area is completely clear. thank you so much for making this video!!!

Thanks, as I can't get the dyes by mail, owing to COVID 19 seeing how Acrylic paint can do it .... is SO MUCH APPRECIATED. THANKs.

If you notice the purple doesn’t look anything like the original paint swatch, it looks more blue. If you want to get closer to the paint swatch color you may have to add a little red paint to that purple to bring out the red tones when set.
I’d love to see Resin Ace try that experiment to see if the color gets any closer to the paint swatch.

This is a really handy tip to know. I used some black hammer right paint with epoxy once, took about 2 days to cure so won't use that again.

Amazing video! In less than 10 seconds of this video I was grinning ear to ear as that epoxy weighing technique is genius. Thank you very much I’ll be trying that! I always eyeball it and would like to try a smarter approach.

I love the simple to do steps with easy to understand logic.
Can I suggest in the video to highlight the word “resin” with the circled 4%, as the overall math shouldn’t include hardener.
👍 thanks for video

So many viewers asking about the type of acrylic paint being demonstrated here, but I've not seen the video's host directly address the topic of paint types. The brand isn't nearly as important as making sure you are using *ACRYLIC ENAMEL* (oil-based paint). Acrylic latex (water-based) will seperate, and sink to the bottom.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you

I have a little question about mixing the acrylic, I have tried a few times mixing resin with my acrylic colors but the acrylic didn’t totally solve in the resin, there are always bits sink to the bottom. I see yours were mixed very well, is it because your acrylic is more liquid? The one I used were not fluid-like

Hi Sir, is every brand of acrylic paint suitable for mixing with resin? I once tried mixing resin with common used acrylic painting paste but it didn't fully mix.
