BUT the kicker is that many of these companies still use coding interviews to weed out candidates, so you could be a solid developer but still get passed over for not solving a puzzle within the time limit.

ig we need to have balance, rather than just doing one thing because reality is that you need projects to make yourself look impressive on resume but need to know leetcode to actually get into most companies

just be great at leet code, slack at job, lie on resume and keep switching jobs in 2-3 years

Yeah you just need both. In another video neetcode talks about how at his stage he still didn’t have 100% chance of getting it but at least 90%. So the bottom line is build the projects to get the interview and grind leetcode to pass the interview.

He only has this take because he’s excellent at leetcode so he sees his blind spot as the projects on the resume.

Having worked 15 years as a software engineer and architect, I've never had to do anything in my job that was similar to leetcode problems. They are extremely rare, or perhaps only applicable when building very specific applications or systems. Not a useful skill to grind for a day job, and I just don't understand why they're the things that get asked in interviews. They're so broken.

This is kinda trash. The creator of homebrew got rejected from Google for failing to invert a binary tree. So I don't see projects really helping that much in interviews

There was a great time to start grinding leetcode problems to get a job specially companies were calm and not fighting each others

he's kinda right, but not totally, yes projects will get you interviews, but not at FAANG companies.

Leetcode is for nerds. What is there have nothing to do with real life. If someone asks me to do stuff from there I refuse right away. Test me with a real problem not fiction. Also I suck at math ultra hard while Leetcode is based on math.

Build some nice apps, show you know how to make real things not fiction
