This BREAKS my heart. The beautiful mountains, Estes Park is one of my favorite go to places and seeing all smoke in the news is the worst feeling.

what I don't understand is why these tv producers insist on putting a logo & info banner that takes up fully 20% of the screen area??? Talk about sensory overload - you have time, temperature, stock market, game scores, other news items scrolling madly across the bottom competing with the video and voice over... does any of it actually make an impression or do we just consume information?

No excuse for these unstoppable wild fires: Back in the early 60s
when I was in fourth grade traveling over Berthoud pass I noticed
100-200 yard wide stripped areas on the mountain sides where all the
trees were gone. My father informed me that it was called clearcutting:
" Logging companies remove everything and then replant when complete."
It is my understanding this practice was stopped on federal land in
the late 70s by the environmental movement as the loggers took
everything right down to the rivers and runoff polluted the water. They
now do "patch clearcutting" where the loggers stay 100+ feet from
streams which contain runoff sediment.
Talking to my buddy,
who drove a firefighting bulldozer, says those clearcut areas made
great fire-breaks, plus this enabled the heavy equipment to quickly access the
fire. After what we have gone through maybe this should be started
again in Colorado, California, etc.

I know its natural weather related but ever think that maybe the industrial complex destroys wildlife intentionally to create more city-like landscapes and corporation owned land?
