Slipknot was made by Clown. He bought a bar. Had touring acts play. Opened for the bands. Became rockstars. Pretty awesome formula. Corey just sang because he wanted to do his own thing with Stone Sour. Roadrunner took advantage of this. Linkin Park, a good band, but literally someone else's version of Limp Bizkit, Incubus, etc. You could literally put Mike and Chester in a group with any DJ, a bass player, guitarist and drummer and literally get the same uninspired shit. I've seen LP live, they literally sounded like the album. Never been more disappointed at a show ever that I can think of. I've seen Slipknot they are pretty amazing live. I live in near Cleveland. I was big into Mushroomhead. I think they had a few good albums early on. but then it became repetitive. Hell, I even ran into Jeffery one night at a Karaoke Bar singing Judas Priest. I think this was right around the time of XX. Saw them a few years back at Ohio Bike Week. They were so so. Heard a few of their newer songs recently, and the new one that just debuted. Kind of takes me back to the good old days of MRH and SuperBuick. Jesus that was 25 years ago, when I could take a punch in the face in the pit and beg for more.


Honestly, if you look at music from a historical stand point, every successful band, was responsible for all the clones that came up in the same era. 80's glam rock probably started with Def Leppard or similar, broke out, made money, had a ballad and the rest of the labels scrambled to find a similar band that fit the equation. Seriously, Motley Crue had 4 good songs and the Dr. Feelgood Album, but someone signed them because VInce could shake his ass, girls loved him and they were probably the next best thing in town too GNR.


Just my opinions, but if you look at the history of music, very few people really stand out on their own. Janis Joplin, Micheal Jackson, The Beatles, Tool, etc. They set a benchmark, they estabished a formula, and every record label in town copied it to make money.

TBH Brad Delson from Linkin Park wanted to outdo Limp Bizkit which they did with Hybrid Theory and Meteora but idk how mushroomhead is a part of this?

This is exactly why he was kicked out of Mushroomhead, no one in the band liked him and he kept a fued with Slipknot going that neither side wanted to keep going, both of them formed at almost the same time and acknowledge that they weren't aware of the other band at the time they adopted the masks.

Slipknot made themselves. Through pain and sadness that band grew. Nobody should compare these 2 bands, they are extremely different even if its the same genre, and same look. You get a different attitude from each band.
