Samsung Galaxy Fold Review: A fragile, uneven step toward the future

Every once in a while, I’m lucky enough to pick up something that feels like it came straight out of the future. This is one of those times -- sort of. I've been living with Samsung's Galaxy Fold for a week now, and I can’t understate how important this thing is. It represents a new way of THINKING about smartphones and almost single-handedly changes what we should expect from them. It's a device that is absolutely worth celebrating, but buying one? For $2,000? I’m not so sure about that.

It’s a gamble. You have to know when to hold them, and when to fold them

Man I really can't wait until folding phones become mainstream and less expensive, I definitely want one!

Instagram stories are cut off on my Note 9 anyway, so that's something I'm used to lol.

Go watch LGR channel and you will realize that galaxy fold as a first mass production foldable cellphone itself is worth it. Samsungs first tablet PC, which was ridiculously expensive at the time, is even more expensive now, not because it was the first tablet PC(it was not), but just because it was the first tablet computer by Samsung.

Funny enough I had jelly scrolling in my old Tab S2 and that was one screen

You cannot drop test it? but surely a "accidental" few drops would not hurt ?

I think most people know this is just a first gen. Its gonna have problems. Personally I'm already starting to save up for the second gen.

Too many issues especially the price. But, as a gadget enthusiast, I do really appreciate their efforts. This is the first step for a bigger future in the industry.
Keep it up, Samsung. We know, you will do better.

That front screen is huge compared to Iphone4.. I guess if you liked that iPhone, then you can’t complain

Samsung galaxy fold features that a 2.0 version could solve.
1) price reduction by around $500 at around $1500 this would make the phone way more mainstream as current phones are $1000.
2) reduction in the crease, and increase in durability
3) full screen front screen
4) smaller notch or hole punched camera
5) thinner in general making it more pocket friendly
6) larger battery

Not a single tech reviewer has recommended this phone for the average Joe. Wonder how Samsung will respond on the R&D side

Throwing shade at the reviewers who peeled off the top layer and broke their screens lol. I like it.

that crease in between the 2 screens... very noticeable.. awful.. and the front screen, very small with a lot of empty space unused. I do not thin you should buy this first gen. wait until all the mess is sorted out or wait for how other competitors will introduce their first fold-able phone too
