I tried this on the old wooded deck boards with the smallest, and for the first 3-4 screws I was able to drill the hole and used the extractor end and they came out great. But after that 3rd or 4th screw I felt like I could not drill and adequate hole, and the extractor just spun not gripping the screw at all. Tried redrilling and extracting on several screws with the same result, no extraction. Seems like I could not ever drill a deep enough hole even with my full upper body weight on the drill. Will be returning this to Lowes also.

There are videos from the company that makes it on Youtube. Just have a look at them and they will show you how to use it properly. However with some screws if they are too soft such as brass or decking screws it may not work but I always try and get some WD40 in there if possible. It is a lot harder to extract screws in metal but with wood it should out every time with not much effort. You use the drill side first anti clockwise to bore a decent sized hole. You then switch over to the threaded side and again anticlockwise on a slow speed. If you have bored it out enough then the threaded side will grab the metal and out it comes. Be patient with it and do it at a slow speed as you need the threaded side to grab it. If you do it with too much power the thing will just spin and the thread won't grab the metal and just makes a larger hole. If that happens then move to one size bigger and do it slowly so you are not making a bigger hole. So always anticlockwise and on a slow speed because if you do it wrong and the head of the screw is destroyed then you have no chance. All this time and you've been showing people how not to do it. I wonder how many people have actually watched this video and taken you at your word. What you really need to do is another video showing how to use it properly. I would then take this one down before you mislead another 14K because that's how many have watched it. You've cost the company that makes it all them sales as most of your watchers are taking it back for a refund you bad bad naughty boy lol

It's for stripped screws not broken bolts. You need a bolt stud extractor or just a tack welder.

Never try to reverse a broken fastener in a through-hole ... simply drill it out the back. Extractors are for fasteners in a blind-hole. Use a transfer punch, then a center punch, to center the drill bit. Use any petroleum oil for ferrous (steel) cutting fluid, and WD-40 for non-ferrous (brass) cutting fluid. Striking and lubricating the fastener can help break the corrosion around the base material...

Brass is too soft to extract. If you put too much pressure while drilling the hole, it'll expand out.

The broken bolts were not removed but just drilled off !

They have those same grabit bits in micro size, not to mention that is the cheap brand of the grabit drill sets

Get the Grabit set that is made in the USA. The set that is sold as the Speedout is made in China "as seen on TV" and they do not work they are crap! The set that is made in the USA is made with harder steel. Have been using them for the last 10 years on aircraft. I keep 2 sets, one in my hangar toolbox and one in my travel toolbox. They work!

Thanks for the information it won't work on a car bolt

Your using it wrong, you have to use the screw side 1st and then the drill side

Might of worked correctly if you did it right...You use the drill in the clockwise direction when using the drill bit end of the speed out bit and the extract side in the counterclockwise direction..
