Oh God, I want to go back in time where life is simple, cheap and peaceful.

When I hear Andy Williams and these songs it takes me back to a happier simpler world which we will never see again .

I was coming out of the bank the other day and I heard this melody. I stood in the doorway to hear a little more. As I walked along I hummed and stated to remember some of the lyrics. I looked up what I thought was the title and heard it after so many years. I was a child and my grandmother would sit at the table, no TV alone and sing softly. This was one of the songs. As I heard it I cried . It’s many years since I lost her, she raised me. Thank you Andy Williams for this lovely song and my memory 💐

Its too easy to forget what a nice voice Andy Williams had. Smooth and creamy. He was from a time of velvet voiced crooners who will likely not be seen again.

This won song of the year at the 1966 Grammy Awards. Nothing out now compares to this. It's sad.

There were such great singers back then and I doubt very much that we will see that talent again. I really miss that era and I am fortunate to have lived through that time.

Back when love songs were really love songs. Oh those beautiful melodies.

Real singing. They'll never write songs like this again. Cherish it. Beautiful symbiosis between singer, lyrics and melody. Capturing that moment we can only express in this fusion. Alchemy!

The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
All the lovely things
You are to me

Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

I am mesmerized by the beauty of Elizabeth Taylor. This movie she was breathtaking as was the others. Elizabeth was so kind and compassionate which made her more beautiful.

The original power couple, sadly they couldn’t live with other or be happy without each other. But they sure made their mark on this boring old world, their candles shown bright for as long as they could and boy didn’t they light up our lives.

Imaging someone writing a line like "the shadow of your smile"... So ethereal and subtle...

My dad passed with dementia 4 years ago at the start of covid. This was my parents song to each other and played at his funeral. This morning, I lost my mum to dementia as well, and I'll play their song for mum too. I really hope she's in dad's arms again now 😢

Who's listening this song in 2021 like me?

Memories of those far-off day?
Memories tinged with sadness ?
Reminiscences and Memories crowded your mind?
Long lost friend?
or heyday of your life?
I want hear your stories.

Leave your beautiful stories at my door
I'll leave them for the one who waits behind.

From the shadow of your smile..

August 2024 and I just heard my mother’s lovely voice singing this beautiful song, so here I am. It happens to be the 14th anniversary of her passing. I miss her so much. My best friend. ❤

Your lover's smile is something you never forget. For that reason, I consider this song one of the most romantic ever.

Singer Andy Williams had his peak career years during a time when weekly variety shows hosted by singers were the main evening TV fare. Music, particularly singing, was the main form of entertainment, both through media and when regular people got together. Andy often gets lost among his peers like Tony Bennet, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Robert Goulet, Mel Torme, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Steve Lawrence, Nat King Cole. But imo, he has one of best voices of all time. The timbre, his delivery, his musical choices, just superb. He deserves more attention and recognition.

The real singers of the 20's through 50's are now ready to be reborn. I doubt they will reach the standard of excellence of the original group, but the opportunity is there for the taking! Those that feel they can, should go for it!
