Germany's new grand coalition received a lukewarm reception domestically, but across Europe it was widely hailed. So in this video, we'll explain how the two parties came together, what their policies are and whether they could unite the EU going forward.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

It is not a certainty that SPD's member referendum will turn out positive, though. And if they reject the coalition, the sh*t truly hits the fan.

Let us hope it is not too late, I read the entire deal in German and there is a lot changes planned, even if half of them would be completed, it would transform Germany. Now lets see it in practice

I want to give them a chance.
Let them try to work first. And we'll see.

"Grand Coalition" is not really fitting anymore. They barely reached a majority...

I'm not exactly a fan of the incoming administration but Merz is at least a bit less lethargic and eurosceptic than Scholz. Scholz didn't talk to anybody - not on the European stage and not to his own voters and just silently and stubbornly sat on his chair with no apparent strategy or explanation. It will be easy for Merz to improve on that. 😂

As a leftist, this was the best case scenario seeing the election results.

German elections:
Jam, cheese, ham
Ham, cheese
Cheese, ham
Jam, ham
Ham, jam
Cheese, jam
Just the combination changes, the containment not.

"Alter Wein in neuen Schläuchen" as some say here in Germany, but wine gets better over time.

I hope we can attract many of the americans that are absolutely terrified of the extremism taking hold in their country. We can probably convince A LOT of skilled americans to migrate if we play our cards right.

3:10 The CDU is actually assigned 7 ministries, the Head of the Chancellory (somewhat comparable to a Chief of Staff) is considered a minister post.

It's good that the SPD got the environmental ministry. For everything else, the CDU can manage Europe better right now.
