Honestly I never liked Lego Mario because it relies way too much on the gimmick and not enough at all on actually good-looking designs all the characters or block and ugly I know for a fact the Lego could do better designs and it's not a limitation of the creative medium but rather a choice the gimmick doesn't even seem like it would be fun to play I don't know cuz I've never actually bought any of the sets and worst of all the power up kits that I see in stores usually selling for a ridiculously high prices that literally just come with a hat and overalls that only work for the Lego Mario theme don't even add anything to the gimmick and are ridiculously expensive for what is basically just a pile of wasted plastic that could have been used to make something actually entertaining like normal Lego bricks the only good things I've seen coming out of Lego Mario are the things that don't use the Lego Mario gimmick and are just normal Lego sets and so far I'm only aware of 4 sets that are like that the TV the game console Bowser and the question block and if I can only find four set out of an entire Lego theme that I think are okay or interesting I'd say that's a pretty clear sign that the Lego theme was fundamentally flawed in design and concept
