RIP Marni Nixon, the voice behind Audrey Hepburn's performance. My stepfather was head of the University of Washington music school in the '70's, which led to regular faculty parties at our home. Marni was one of the more famous guests we entertained.

Bed, bed! I couldn't go to bed
My head's too light to try to set it down
Sleep, sleep! I couldn't sleep tonight
Not for all the jewels in the crown
I could have danced all night
I could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things
I've never done before
I'll never know ahat made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night
I could have danced all night (You're tired out, you must be dead)
I could have danced all night (Your face is drawn, your eyes are red)
And still have begged for more (Now say goodnight, turn out the light)
(Please, it's really time for you to be in bed)
I could have spread my wings (Do come along, do as you're told)
And done a thousand things (Or Mrs. Pierce is apt to stir)
I've never done before (You're up too late, please, it sure is late)
(Miss, you'll catch a cold)
I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he (Put down your book, the work'll keep)
Began to dance with me (Now settle down and go to sleep)
I could have danced, danced, danced all night
I could have danced all night
I could have danced all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things
I've never done before
I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night

Why is it, that there is nobody making beautyful and spectacilur movies, musicals and music anymore. What killed greativity and imagination?

Frankly, I don't know how anyone could have thought this was Audrey Heoburn singing. The great Marni Nixon sang in a lot of big movies. Besides singing most of Eliza Doolittle in the movie version, she sang parts of Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend for Marilyn Monroe in the movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, for Deborah Kerr in the movie version of The King and I, for Sophia Loren in Boy on a Dolphin, and, of course, for Natalie Wood in the movie version of West Side Story (and, apparently, even for Rita Moreno in the Tonight quintet). She also sang in several operas. She deserves more recognition.

Why isn't the playlist in musical order ? Nonetheless it is one of my favorites from this wonderful movie. Love Audrey, thank you Marnie.

Great song but it is improperly placed in the film version of My Fair Lady. It appears BEFORE the ball (and before Eliza Doolittle had danced) when it should have been placed at night AFTER the ball!
