The mayor of a Polish city has asked all 44,000 residents to evacuate, as widespread flooding continues to batter central Europe.

Nysa mayor Kordian Kolbiarz asked people to head for higher ground, citing the risk of an embankment breaching and releasing a cascade of water into the town from a nearby lake.

The death toll from the floods that hit over the weekend rose to at least 16 on Monday, with seven confirmed fatalities in Romania. Casualties were also recorded in Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland.

I am confused, I could not understand anything the Dr. was saying. Floodings caused so much damage and what is worse lives lost. Greetings from Slovakia and stay safe.

Dr. Gianluca Pescaroli most likely had something insightful and important to share with us. Like most, I struggled to understand him. In the first place, I suggest that he invests in a better microphone so that we can hear him better. In the second place, he should speak more slowly and in the third place, he needs to break down his information into digestible chunks. He clearly has an excellent command of the English language, therefore all three suggestions are easily achievable. As for we viewers, turning on the automatic captions will likely help and I'm going to watch again doing exactly that. It is a two way street after all.

Edit: The captions helped. Nevertheless, he is speaking as if addressing a symposium of experts. He needs to speak more in layman's terms and cut out the jargon.

Speaking in abstract terms only makes sense when talking with other experts on the topic. This professor has been spending too much of his time at the university.

I've been sick for three days from the wildfire smoke in California. These climate disasters are devastating.

Translation of that last guy:

He is saying floods are becoming the norm in certain countries. There is a common point figure and basically cause and effect for countries and the world economies.

2nd half: We need to have technology that can predict floods better 😅

The Dr. only talks about alert systems, but the devastation caused by floods will still happen.
