I still kind of like the V8. Something about an under stressed engine with a 5 speed manual.

4 cylinder with a 8 cylinder price tag

I find it funny people worrying about the 2.8 being able to do what the V8 can do. 70s used to have 4.0na diesels which were gutless but still did everything the newer ones can. Just very slowly

Toyota must make a fortune off these bloody things. No R&D for the last 40 years 😂😂

Im honestly very envious of the Australians for getting such a great vehicle. Would love it if we had this in the US but good old EPA got them restricted.

Here in the Philippines, WE ORDINARY FARMERS, wishes to buy this LC...but we have a syndicate here that corners all incoming brand new units, and resells them all...sample our LC300 here reaches P8M to P12M...black market

Lost the only reason people pay 100k for a shed on wheels, the v8 was the only thing making it worth the price

A 25% tariff means that even fewer people will be able to afford to buy a new Toyota LandCruiser. Many of them will rot on dealer lots.

Almost a 100K for a 4banger, you're nuts.
Nucking Futs.

Had a look at one last year. $104000.
Didn't take it for a test drive because it was so uncomfortable sitting in it on the lot I knew it would be bloody painful after twenty minutes.
Good modern utes are available for $40000 less and you can sit in them all day.

The one thing I do like about these is the new digital dash that's a solid nod to the old 40 series.

Reputation by association. I have no idea if Toyota purposely marketed these towards farmers but they had appealing features - 4x4, a boatload of torque for towing and mechanically simple. It’s a running gag that these had manual windows and a cassette player but it just meant it was less things to go wrong.
When you take away these things and jack up the price tag it just turns into a mockery at this point.

Toyota would do better if they modernised the 1HZ. A reliable simple straight 6, maybe turbo'ed. Provide a minimal electronics bare bones entry level spec for $35k, a mid spec for $45k and a creature-comforts high end unit for the city slickers at like $60k. IMO

Toyota boss: “So we raided the parts bin, kept most of the suspension, lock set, mirrors and interior from the 1970’s, slapped an $80k sticker price on it and threw in some led lights to pass it off as a brand new 4x4. Anything else?”

Intern: “the bonnet just doesn’t seem to be high enough.”

If the price went down because of the engine id consider one despite there being many flaws to owning one. But the fact it's driven the price up, that doesn't sit well with me at all.
