I love how they hired an actually plus sized actress to play the dance partner and didn’t use her weight for shitty laughs. They showed her to be a pretty woman who has good taste in fashion and is an amazing dancer. The fact that it is was impressive for Steve Carell’s character to lift her wasn’t done in a ‘haha look how funny it is that he’s lifting her while he’s smaller than her’ way either, but just a ‘wow he’s talented!’ kind. It just is amazing that it did this in 2008 in such a fatphobic climate for comedy movies. It isn’t a perfect film, but I do really appreciate this scene.

It was hallareous and probably one of the funniest scenes I've ever scene and yet at the same time in good taste. Beautiful actress and dancer. And for him to keep a kind, gentle and yet straight face without laughing was impecable.
