Despite saying that they love games for decades, Apples lack of driving in roads into gaming over the same time proves that words are air

And if you didn't use an Alienware, you could have gotten higher performance

The fact both laptops can run games like these today blows my mind, back then they were big as a gaming monitor 😂

Windows laptops lose frame when unplugged by default but you can turn it off in the settings or turn up your frames manually when unplugged

Basically same as always, if you want a portable gaming setup, get a PC laptop with a dgpu, if you want to game for more than an hour without an outlet, get something with a big battery and a decent igpu (like a MacBook, if your games run on it)

A Macbook with Linux is usual a pain with all the proprietary drivers. But it makes gaming a hell of a lot easier and opens your library up substantially.

Any game can run on any hardware with enough optimisation. Nintendo Switch is a perfect example of this, it uses 2014 android tablet hardware yet still runs games great.

If your performance drops this much when unplugged, something is wrong with your settings.
I'm not saying that the alienware will be able to do this for any amount of time, but it should drop at maximum 10% ish when off the wall. Anything more than that is an error in your setup for testing.

I love how he was completely unbiased and pointed out the quality in both

Apple boasted MacOS for it's stable Unix foundation but failed to optimize games for the Mac.

On the other hand, Linux which is only Unix-like has better support for games even though it has a less stable kernel than MacOS (since Linux uses a monolithic kernel while MacOS uses a hybrid kernel known XNU which combines Mach microkernel and BSD4.3 monokernel, so definitely the latter wins when it comes to system stability). That's why nowadays you can game on the go on Linux with the Steam Deck.

So it's Apple's fault for not making their software optimized for modern games despite having a stable OS and kernel foundation.

Mac OS is getting a lot better for gaming with the M series chips. Not that you would buy a Mac for dedicated gaming. But if you own a Mac for the other things you do, it is nice to know that it can also game.

the advantage of mac is that it has a way better battery life and it doesnt lose performance when unpplugged

Thanks for clearing up some misconceptions. Since the M chips, Macs are fine for gaming

I actually tried this using bootcamp to sideload Windows on the 2014 Mac Book Pro. While it did run games better than I thought it would, the massive downside the the Mac Book form is cooling. That case gets screaming hot.

The key word there is compatible games, you need to run it through two layers of emulation to get non compatible games to run, and there are very few games that are.

As much as I hate Macs, these results are impressive considering the fact that the games are emulated.
