7:53 The reason is because the perfectly white, round, and natural pearls can be very expensive, however, those clams are grown in a lab to always contain a pearl, so they are not "natural" and are worth less. Ex: In the Japan Part of the world showcase (Epcot, Disney world, Florida) they have a stand where you can get an oyster for $18 and you get to keep whatever Pearl's inside.

That was a real pearl... Pearls get their color from what color the clam is on the inside, outside, water conditions, diseases, etc. like so they can see
