Casting daiwa sealine 30s slosh 30 12ft Penn prevail rod

I have and SL20, SL30 & SL50 all over 20 years old and still in excellent running order.
I run 5-30 motor oil on the bearings, aftermarket CF drag washers and home made hardwood handles.
I use them for snapper and king-fish with both braid and nylon, off the beach and rocks with longer rods and on the boat with 7 foot rods
One thing that I've learned is instead of stopping the reel with your thumb on the center of the spool; the spool is designed with a raised shoulder so you can clamp your thumb down on the shoulder of the spool it will help prevent birds nests in conjunction with fine tuning your cast control knob and laying your line on correctly across the spool

i use a sealine reel and a 6 and bait 14 foot rod for casting distance and when i first started casting distance birdie after birdie after birdie now its totally different i can with just the weight i just beat my best with 465 foot cast but with bait when fishing its about 300 foot way way way out there love the video btw ;-)

Bomb proof reels . Had the 20s and 30s for years. Never had issues casting or reeling

I have seen some people angle their reels. Why do you angle your reel when you cast it like that?

Alright. I did it. I broke down and bought me one. Found a really good deal, $85 to be exact on a sl30sh. The ole boy still had the box with price tag on it. This reel is clean as a pen. It doesn’t even look like he ever used it. After watching your videos, I couldn’t control myself any longer. Hey, thanks for your help.

I’m not share what part of the coast you fish in but, here in Texas where I am, even 20 is light. I usually use 40 lb big game. I can’t cast as far but I don’t worry about being broke off. What rods are you using? Those make a difference as well.
