Kubota Tractor Ignition Switch Repair

I disassembled and repaired the ignition switch on my Kubota tractor. As a bonus I also included some photos of a similar repair I did on my starter solenoid on my 1956 Continental Mark II a couple of years ago.

Thanks! I had an issue where I could start the tractor but it would die when I let go of the key. Turned out the inner assembly rotated in the outer housing and the contacts weren't lining up. Cheap part. Reassembled and used super glue to hold the pieces together. Works great now. We'll see how long it lasts

Having the exact same issue with my L2550 Kubota, was looking at my switch and wondering if anybody had taken one apart glad to see it's serviceable, I'll be pulling mine apart this week. great video thanks.

Excellent work, great video, your a true mechanic. It would seem from what I can see is that the key is not advancing the copper wipers far enough to make contact. That would explain the burned brass pole. Possibly turn the key harder each time so as to not burn the contacts. Possibly adjust the key switch to allow farther movement so as to place the wiper on top of the pole instead of just hitting the pole on the leading edge.Just a thought, maybe I’m way off base, sort of like the wiper.

It's pressed together
How did it come apart?

Intermittent starting and solnoid clicking but not cranking the starter. Check the safety start switch on the clutch pedal. Bypass with a jumper wire and see what it does.

How do you remove the switch - unscrew, or pop off?

I’m having an issue with my 1960 Merc Control for my 1960 Mercury outboard. Not always but usually after running the boat for a while, if I turn the key to off it won’t shut off. Thinking about trying this. Not sure if I’ll be able to actually take my switch apart. However it’s just a smaller version of what you have there.

Did you make a video on removing the ignition initially?

Hello, my kubota tractor switch went bad after 2 months. Dealer says it looks torn up inside but we’ve only used the kubota key. Does Kubota have a problem? Your thoughts?
