Thanks for the video reminder of why I left Tampa Bay this year after 27 years to live in a non-hurricane prone state.

Was actually planning to retire to Florida in a couple of years.
These hurricanes are getting worse and worse.
Changed my mind.

Imagine getting bitten by a shark in your driveway.

People need to be careful. When the storm / sewer drains back up, the manhole covers float off. You could be walking down a flooded street, then step into a storm drain and be lost.

I'm glad to hear that they found the man Gary. That was scary that he stayed there during that storm. 😮

It’s what happens when you build on the coast of a major hurricane state…is it worth it?

the House is on the barrier island!!! What did they think would happen when a major storm came by? They are lucky if the house survived at all. Don't live on a barrier island and you will never have this problem.

Even the realtors tell u, in Florida it's not if a hurricane hits u but when. So why live there full time?

I loved Florida when I lived there '89-93. But after one hurricane (Andrew in '92) that didn't even damage me, I got out of Miami Beach and moved to Arizona, then to California. So I was a climate refugee 31 years ago. Florida is a great place, but I'm not interested in what comes with it. I have a soft spot for all the places I've lived, but no desire to go back.

All the nasty comments are just amazing to me. Almost anywhere you live, natural disasters occur. Droughts, wildfires, blizzards, tornados, rivers flooding, landslides. Funnily enough I never hear people victim blaming them. Look at all the flooding thats happening in other states from this storm, even worse than these barrier islands. Are the same people saying "thats what you get for living in ___ state"? Some sick people in this world.
