Thanks for that - I live in York and have often wondered just 'what' makes people queue all that time? The power of social media marketing I guess!

if you'd have done 5 minutes research you'd have known you could have gone to their other shop in St. Anthony's Gardens, maximum 5 minute wait 😉

There is a secret. If you want one, there is another location that sell them. No lines.

Same. Visited York from the US, saw the long queue. Did the research and the next day we were also in the queue. Heading back for Ghost Week!

The shop lady is clearly not from York or Yorkshire. Or practiced her RP accent.
Not been there for over 20 years, but a lovely old street. Another one (no tick-tock special shop) is Elm Hill in Norwich. Used as a location in Stardust. (The magical town)

Good luck to them, although I don't really get it. Interesting and cute but not worth a 3 hour wait. The fudge shop a few doors down maybe x

Its tactile. Something unique that you can hold and maybe it calls out to you. Those in the comment's that say its a gimmick or just old shite really dont get it. The very same people that stare at Tik Tok videos all day and seldom realise what's really going on around them. As for the comment about the shop lady not being from York or Yorkshire I dont understand the point you are trying to make? You do realise this was and is a trading city where people passed through selling things or stopped to find work.
Better get back to making Tik Tok videos and eating MacDonald's as cultural awareness is obviously lost on you!

First visit to york last weekend, walked down the Shambles, saw a massive queue for this shop, wondered what it was, and tried to peek in but it was too busy. Searched online for it the next day, and can't believe people queued for hours for a statue.

I really dony get this. Tourists only have a limited amount of time in that beautiful city and they chose to spend HOURS in a line-up for a plaster figurine. Why?!? " So what did you do on your trip to York?" "I stood in a line" 🤦‍♀️

Re: background noise - get a second microphone a small distance from your main one and invert the phase by 180 degrees.
