This is a great act of love! But my concerne is about the influence that the surrogate mother has on the child throughout pregnancy? For analogy, IVF doctors say that inevitably there is a deep connection and influence via epigenetic patterns between the two in the womb, talking about heterologous IVF transfers. The baby recognizes her as his/her own mother eventhough genetically is not hers. Her epigenetic influence on the baby has lifelong effects. Would the baby suffer from trauma of abandon after birth? I am not judging, just asking!

I love that you are posting about Surrogacy, but I went through two and every state is different. What people don’t realize is you go in with a signed contract, but because of Roe versus Wade - a woman’s body is her body and the contract is really just guidelines. Except in the states that recently overturned Roe versus Wade. If the surrogate does not follow the contract, the only penalty she will face, will be that she will forgo her monthly stipend and possibly risk other financial penalties. While incredibly grateful, the intended parents truly have no say except for what is “asked of“ in the contract. You need to have the greatest trust in your surrogate – like family!

You agreed to no caffeine throughout the entire pregnancy?! Isn’t there caffeine in chocolate? Wow I’m not sure I would have agreed to that considering babies are born healthy when moms (or carriers) consume caffeine on a daily basis!

Good luck. The mother is reduced to nothing more than a paid gestator and the baby is sold like an item. Ripped away from the only home its ever known right away to go home w STRANGERS. Tell me...why do u have to wait 8 weeks before taking a puppy home but not for a human?..

Its also been proven that post partum depression is much worse for surrogates, and the baby suffers greatly by being immediately taken from the mother that grew him in her womb. Just sad and disgusting. Heres a thought: ADOPT

It’s cool that this exists and allows more babies to be born but isn’t it slightly morally wrong? Surely these babies are going to know they came from a woman someday when they get older and want to find her, and I would think a woman would grow attached and close with something she’s carried around for nine months. A baby is sacred and to just give it away to somebody else is pretty crazy to me

Don’t agree with the financial commodity portion of the arrangement. Unethical to “rent” out the uterus in exchange for monetary gain. Negates the beauty of it all to use our fertility as a financial bargaining chip as if human life was just a consumer product. Its cold, sad, and all about $$$$ for the sellers. The dignity of human life is priceless.
