I learned French, Spanish and German when I was much younger -- in my teens and 20s. Now I am in my 60s. My language learning experience is very different now. The best advice I got from a good friend -- a piece of advice that I keep coming back to -- is "Don't compare yourselves with others and DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF to YOURSELF IN YOUR 20s."!!!

This is all great advice. I've been trying to learn Greek for close to two decades now and it's endlessly frustrating to me that not only am I nowhere close to fluent, I still struggle to understand fairly basic conversations. Basically my proficiency is limited to a few situations that I have repeated many times in my visits to Greece. However, I am going to keep on trying because as slow as my progress has been, I have made progress after all! For instance, I rely less and less on the English subtitles when watching a video like this one. Your channel is excellent, thank you so much.

It's so true that unfortunately it's very easy to buy into the idea that other people are just so much better than you at x, y and z. But as you said, you don't see the behind the scenes, you don't know anything about these people other than what they let you see and know. Everyone's different, and therefore, we all learn differently, at different paces and even with different resources that impact how fast or well we can acquire the skill/knowledge. Great reminder, Yiuli! Σ'ευχαριστώ πολυ! 😁

Έχεις απόλυτο δίκιο! Είναι λίγο σαν να προσπαθείς να χάσεις βάρος. Ούτε αυτό μπορούν να το κάνουν όλοι. Σας ευχαριστώ για αυτό το βίντεο!

Sophia! Excellent. I learnt Spanish in 4 months but in Spain in a seminary. Learning Greek as an older guy in England, working hard, is much slower. Siga Siga.

Yes, there are interesting ideas. It is also true that you can learn faster if you have goals and know yourself bettee and how you learn efficiency a language. If you grew up with different languages, you also are eager to lean easier languages. The method is important. I knew someone who lwant German thanks to games. I learn a lot of vocabulary by reading and cooking. Your videos are also great! And dive into the culture is definitely the best way to learn: videos, books, TV shows, music, chatting. Nowadays, thanks to internet, it is much more easier!

I needed this reminder so bad. I try to learn Greek, but I am very slow at it and the idea of stopping crossed my mind a milion times, cause I was worried I can never be able to say or write anything in Greek as I wanted to. I've never been to Greece, I have no Greek friends nor relatives and sources to learn Greek from my native language are quite limited, but I just simply love your language and I enjoy learning it. I'd love to read that book as well now.
Thank you for encouragement.🙏

Teacher, what if someone doesn't speak English or doesn't know English, how can they learn greck language? Please reply
The second question is, does age matter to learn a new language? My friend is 40 old now 😂
