2024 Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo | It's Fun Again

Come along for our POV drive and review of a 2024 Honda CR-V all wheel drive base model LX. All the attention is on the excellent hybrid but the tried and true 1.5 turbo with a CVT is back for the 6th gen. The CR-V returns to its roots with a fun and boxy persona and sheds the too serious vibe of the 5th gen. We have binaural mics going so be sure to put on your headphones. Did the 6th gen CR-V do enough to knock off the Toyota RAV4?

Welldone son
All the reviews showed top model which is unthinkable for middle class people. Thanks for reviewing base model

A spare tire is a true safety issue and can sometimes be a life/death situation depending on where one is driving. I was driving in Chicago at 1:00 AM (brutal winter) on the expressway from picking up a relative (from the airport) and hit a pothole which destroyed the tire). Having a spare meant a quick 15 minute change instead of hours waiting for a tow truck (the rim was damaged).

@2:09. The reason there is no flat floor is because Honda decided instead of a lowered seat (knees-up), the seating is raised do you have great thigh support and stadium-style seating. I think they made the best choice.

Nice to hear that the road noise has decreased. It has been one of the main weaknesses of the Honda CRV of all generations

Most vids out there are for the hybrid. Spent time in the regular old 1.5 turbo gas LX. The LX is truly a base model and sure it helps provide Honda cars to sell while there is still a chip shortage. The hybrid does drive better and will eventually recoup the price difference in gas savings, especially if you rack up alot of stop and go yearly miles.

Got mine 3 weeks ago and I love it, sport hybrid, same color as the one you were testing. I’m getting 42 mpg combined .

Got the2024 Lx. Has all i need & nothing i dont want. My only issue is the key fob does not give you options of only opening the drivers door in the " settings". All doors open when you unlock. Not safe for a single person. Also, HATE stop/start feature that you have to turn off EVERY time you start the car.
Getting 34+Mpg just around town, so happy with that. So far, in the South, no oil dilution issues.
Ride is smooth, quiet, comfy & great visibility. I think seats are WAY more comfortable than the civic or accord or even the HR-V. As to price for entry level, its fair. I even got DISCOUNT off MSRP ! No mark up's at dealer. So, im satisfied with this for my needs. With the government butting in telling the manufacturers what to do, I think Honda did a pretty good job.😊

I drove a 2024 CR-V EX, AWD the other day and noticed a few things. 1.) Had VERY good sound insulation around the windows, doors, and roof. But I could hear road noise coming through the floorboard. Is the EX quieter than the LX? - EX has double paned glass? 2.) The gas pedal was too far to the right. My 9.5-inch shoe was butting up against the side, and wasn't enough room for my foot.- strange... 3.). The throttle seemed touchy- barely touched it and it would jerk at slower speeds. Maybe the 2WD version would be more free rolling. I'm comparing all this to an Accord LX 2WD I had with the 1.5T. 4.) The seat was bolstered nicely and was very comfortable compared to my 2020 Accord LX. 5.) Handling was very good but the steering was a little stiff- lotta weight to the steering wheel. Should be easier to turn.

I’ll actually liked the 5th gen I must go back and watch your review for it.

I hear mechanics saying the hybrid set-up is more trouble free than the turbo-4, so I've been leaning toward the hybrid with its nearly 30-percent increase in fuel economy and more pep in city driving. But...the awful intake vents integrated into the front end are so awful. Is there a way to option those out? The non-hybrid front-end design looks so much better.

I have a 2023 EXL awd, I really like the vehicle and the handling is great and power is plenty. My only complaint is that the bridgestone tires that came with it are very loud.

My 2021 CR-V Hybrid Touring fog lights add better side road view at lower speeds you'll drive in inclement weather including fog. I can make out the white side lines indicating road ends before I go over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, aren't turbos only good for passing lanes...few seconds useful? Like in California I-5 Southbound Grapevine heading into Los Angels going up on an incline for maybe 20-30 minutes, wouldn't the turbo on this car gets overused/shortenes it's longevity for that period of high-revving? I'm worried if I get one of these little 1.5L turbos and have difficulties on any long inclines. My son currently goes in one of them UCs, so I go there at least twice a year for the next 3 (or) more years. Right now, still contemplating/waiting for the 2025 Civic hybrid coming from europe and hoping it will still have the famous K20 engine instead of their 1.5L turbos.

LX is the best version for ride comfort.
It rides on thicker sidewall tires.

The new infotainment screen looks tacked on like they forgot it in design

Torn. Don't want turbo charge, Not a fan of hybrid yet.. No Gray fabric option on hybrid or even gray leather.... No spare tire?, the back doesn't fold flat?.. But love the feel of the car/ openness... Maybe see next year if they change a few things... No hurried to get rid of my 17 Camry..

There has to be a car wash mode in 2024 CR-V Hybrids for automated car washes. Had a nightmarish experience as the car went totally crazy, tried to brake, engaged parking brake & what not. Finally the car had to be turned off, was put in accessories mode and Neutral to finish the wash. Still the parking sensors kept on beeping like crazy. Am I missing something? What is the proper way to do this?

I had put a deposit for 2023 crv hybrid sport touring because it looks amazing but I cancelled it because even the top trim doesn't have fog lights and a spare tyre and these features are lifesavers for me because I have impaired vision and mostly drive in rural dark streets without street lights. Very disappointed. I even had a 2017 pilot with a lane watch camera. I'm so disappointed that they got rid of that camera too. Blind spot monitors can't make up for this camera. Honda raised the price so much but took Away some very important features. Very disappointed.
So I ended up buying the 2023 toyota rav4 hybrid.
