Marikina is also known for being the shoe capital of the Philippines. Branded shoes were done here especially before "China made" distorted the industry. But it is still the shoe capital because some of the shoemakers refuses to stop the industry.

The people of Marikina hope that the entire nation emulate their exemplary city. To the people of Marikina, there are areas and individuals in your city who refuses to be abide by rules and discipline, it is your duty not to allow the entire city to be infested by these lost minds.

Some parts of Marikina are lousy in terms of discipline and urbanity, but in comparison to other cities in the Philippines, it is excellently far better by standard of quality.

Marikina City needs improvement on:
One side street parking. If the city LGU can ban one side street parking, the city's beauty will shine perfectly even more. Houses have enough space to accommodate parking slots, it's just a matter of political will "iron will" and the people will follow just like Singapore.

Pamilihang Bayan Cleanliness. The entire market has accumulated so much dirts on the street pavements and each stall specially the wet market stalls - sobrang masangsang at malansa ang amoy, walang general cleaning.

Others. The LGU knows them.
