I think you should run it in second. The reason you went faster imo is just tires. In the comparison video, the old tire set up had a slalom starting with a tight turn and it went only 1mph slower in 2nd. Good luck. You get a few runs right? You can always compare times by using the video just how you did here.

Mustangs require the widest tire and wheel combination that you can fit. Going to 11x18 inch wheels is the minimum size for your Mustang because of the weight. I had a 1992 Mustang coupe that was 3100 pounds including the roll cage versus my 2011 Mustang at 3600 pounds.
