Run DMC - Christmas In Hollis
Показать описание
When Run-D.M.C. came on the scene in 1983 with the singles “Hard Times” and “Sucker M.C.’s”, they changed the course of hip hop forever.
They created what would become known as “Hardcore Rap” the loud, almost yelling style of rap, and ushering in the “New School Era” of hip hop, finally ending the Disco-Rap era of hip hop, also known as the “Old School Era”.
This new “hardcore rap” would become the most popular form of rap in the mid to late ‘80s, with artists such as L.L. Cool J and M.C. Shan, and many others, copying this style of rap.
The “New School” didn’t last long, spanning from just 1983 to 1985, when Rakim came on the scene in 1986 with “My Melody”, bringing an end to the “Old School”, and starting the Golden Age of Hip Hop, and the Boom Bap style of hip hop. Marley Marl and M.C. Shan were recording and producing Rakim’s “My Melody” and they were getting upset that he wasn’t yelling loud while rapping...he was lying back on the couch spitting with a normal voice...they wanted him to yell loud like Run-D.M.C., L.L., and Shan....years later...they finally understood Rakim’s style...And he did say...”My unusual style will confuse you for awhile.”
In 2009, Run-D.M.C. were inducted into the Rock & Rock Hall Of Fame...bringing their prophecy from the 1985 song “King Of Rock, and music video of the same name (which was set in a fictionalized “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”), to fulfillment in 2009...truly becoming the Kings Of Rock!
