Thanks to Jerome Gregory for emailing me and giving me the idea to do a song/video about simplifying fractions.

Lyrics:
Yeah, this a rap about simplifying fractions
Y’all ready? Let’s go

Simplifying fractions
You can make it happen
All it takes is practice, practice, practice

Simplifying fractions
You can make it happen
All it takes is practice, practice, practice

To simplify a fraction
We gotta take action
Let’s find a common factor
Of the numerator and denominator
Yeah then divide them both
By the common factor
And don’t stop till common factors are no more no more

Yeah let me show you how its done

Here we got a pizza
Let’s cut it into pieces
Eight to be exact
And I was hungry so I ate half
What are we left with?
Four eighths four eighths
Lets break it down to a simpler form
Divide both by 2
What else can we do
Can we simplify it again
Yes we can
Let’s try 2 once more eww
Now we got one half
And that’s that

Simplifying fractions
You can make it happen
All it takes is practice, practice, practice

Simplifying fractions
You can make it happen
All it takes is practice, practice, practice

Another way to do it
Find the greatest common factor
What’s that you ask
It’s the largest number
That goes into the top and bottom
So let’s take a look at eight twelths
The factors of 8 are 2 and 4
The factors of 12 are 2, 3, 4, and don’t forget 6
4 is the largest so divide it into both
And that gives us two thirds
You nerds yeah yeah
Two thirds is our answer yeah yeah
And we’re done

I can't believe I came back to this song in 5 years ago I remember me in my class when I was younger had to find a video for fractions that video ended up being this video and everyone started playing this video like crazy out loud on their computer definitely the best fraction rap song and the most catchy to be honest I kinda want a part 2 😂
This video was definitely good and really helped me and my classmates to learn fractions at the time so thanks so much for making this video because it definitely helped solving fractions a whole lot easier 😎👍

I came back because I heard this in year 5, I'm in year 10 now. I specifically remember the line '2/3rds you nerds' because some guy in my class kept saying it so much till he got told off

And repeat until common factors of the simplified fraction are gone

Find the greatest common factor
What’s that you ask?
It’s the largest number that shares into the numerator and denominator
So let’s take a look at five fifteenths
The factors of 5 are 5
The factors of 15 are 3 and 5
5 is the largest factor, so divide it evenly into both
And that gives us one third
Yeah, I get it
That's a compliment
One fifth is our answer
Yeah, yeah
And we’re done
