in fact, GEN.G in 2018 came in to worlds as the reigning world champions, and they were 1-5, dead last in their group.
That was the year when we had no korean teams in semifinals and Korea had to watch a China x Europe finals in home soil.

Samsung Ozone in 2013 also didn´t make it out of groups in worlds.
People even made a trophy called ´´dade award´´ which would be given to chokers, because their most hyped player underperformed back then.

Jdg is the only team in the world that can stomp 4v5 fights while behind against TES. Also jdg isnt even hyped up. Idk why people keep underestimating lpl teams. Remember than a team with Rookie Photic Karsa Ppgod and Rich who did 14-3 in regular season didnt even make top 4. Same for lng and weibo. Lpl 4th seed is the team that won last msi too. Whereas korea have 2 teams playing for the title and that's it. Maybe Damwon has a shot if they play out of their mind and all come back to their primes at the same time

Jdg is what we call anti commercial. They don't have the big stars like other teams nor the most flashy but depend more on teamwork. I can see why they're not pleasant in the eye and why people expect them to fail. When you take their players and compare them individually to gen gs for example it's only natural to think how the hell they're gonna compete.

It´s fair to say we see LPL teams struggle in groups more than LCK teams.

I, for one, don´t think all 4 LPL teams will make it out(even though they are all favored to do so).

Then, I do agree that there´s usually one team that flops.

I would guess EDG is the LPL team that will not advance and DRX may be the korean team to not advance.
