I've had my cat for over 3 years now and whenever he does this I CRY. My brain reminds me of all our memories thinking its over but its all good after that ljttle goober wakes up 😅

Humans have REM sleep too, but wake up pretty easily if disturbed, Cats in REM however look dead and don't react to being disturbed for quite a while. Cats either sleep so lightly that a tiny breeze wakes them up or sleep so deeply that nearly nothing can wake them up, there's no inbetween with them

A lot of times my cat Bridget goes into REM, she has nightmares, but she always meows a bunch whenever she does have a nightmare and she knows to come to us to make her feel better.

Idk how I feel about this lol. If I move in the slightest, or make any noise, or accidentally touch a toy with a bell on it, my little baby will make a very loud noise and rush over to me thumping her little toe beans across the floor and stare at me for a while
