The Best Budget Reverb? // Alabs Cetus

The Alabs Cetus contains 9 different reverb algorithms to get you started. It's a fantastic choice for your first reverb pedal whether you're on a budget or not. All of the major reverb types are covered, with a few more sprinkled in for good measure - hall, room, church, spring, plate, swell, shimmer, cloud, and "wave" settings. It also features controls for decay, tone, mix, predelay, and modulation. It operates in mono (use the left in/out), true stereo (use both ins/outs, or the left in/both outs), or in we/dry mode (use the right in, both outs). The relay switch can also double as a freeze controls, allowing you to sustain a chord and play over top of it.

The creative mode does a lot more watch 60 cycle hums video on it. You can set adjust each knobs when programming and when you engage the switch it replays it all. Also the wave setting with the mod up you get the sound of ocean waves in the background

I have this pedal and I run a JHS Series Oil Can Delay into it. It's lush using it like that. I will say in headphones, there are slight digital artifacts when you start heading towards the 1/2 o'clock position on the predelay, mix and modulation knobs.

Apart from not pushing the pedal beyond that threshold, it's an awesome piece of kit. I got mine during black Friday deals when it first debuted and before 60CH demo.

You can adjust the “suprise effect. Press the button and turn the knobs. Then press again and it will change the parameters you adjusted automatically

Spring reverb is the setting I use to judge my verbs. This one does the reverberation well but it doesn't drip well i.e. the "boop" when you play staccato. The settings are more granular so it still may replace my RV-6. My reverb settings since I got the Cetus are: short decay ambient room on the HX Stomp for more lively amp sounds, stereo effects loop with EHX Oceans 12 for basic AND special effects verbs, and Cetus for ambient verbs. The RV-6 has been demoted. If I lose my shoegaze cred, oh well. I have the Ocean 12 and I think that's worth a dozen RV-6s on a shoegaze board.

It would have been nice to hear some of the options without the overdrive cranked, especially the spring reverb. They way its played on here sounds very tinny and digital! I was hoping for some surf sound from the spring, something more natural. 👍🏼

Looks awesome, but is it me or we can hear some noise induced in the reverb sound starting from 14:26 when you show the predelay knob (that's where it seems to come in). Does it have something to do with the predelay or the pedal or just a saturation in the YT sound?
