As the EFL Cup semi-finals approach, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has shed light on the reason for Jadon Sancho's prolonged absence from the squad.

Sancho, signed for a whopping £73m, has not played for United since October 22nd, during a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Despite returning to training last Tuesday after a prolonged absence, Sancho will not be featuring in the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.

The young talent has been grappling with physical and mental issues, prompting ten Hag to put him on an individual fitness program.

Despite his return to training, he was not included in the weekend match against Arsenal and will not be risked for the Forest game either.

The United boss is determined to secure a victory in the first leg of the semi-finals and end the club's six-year trophy drought, stating, "It's about winning trophies."
