US President Joe Biden on Wednesday welcomed the initial outcome of the midterm elections, noting that the outcome was far better than expected.

Biden said the Democrats had "a strong night" after the Democrats denied Republicans the sweeping victory they expected. While Republicans made modest gains, an anticipated "red wave" of midterm support for the Republicans failed to materialize.

Vote counting is still underway, with control of the Senate and House of Representatives still not yet clear.

The lady at the end seems to be generally against reporting and delivering information:
- Reporter: inflation is a complicated concept that reporters failed to educate the population about
- She: people should be left uninformed, because gathering information and informing the population is “elitist”

The German social Democrat - well spoken, smart. What he said about The US bringing democracy to Germany.... and now they're looking at the US and they're worried for democracy. Brilliant, a little subtle, reading the subtext. Germany had a dark past, let's try and avoid that breakdown in North America.

As a moderate conservative person I will be THRILLED if we never hear anything from the Trump train ever again. He does NOT represent most republicans.

As a Republican I’d hate to do it but I’ll vote for any Democrat if Donald runs again 2024…..if I have to, I will even vote for Biden.

As an American, I am scared to death when I think of the future our political system and our people. I am a social studies teacher and I feel like the students I teach honestly get representative government and its purpose but somehow it gets lost on their parents or at least on too many of them. Believe me, I am trying everything I can think of to help my students and our people understand not to throw our republic away. I can't believe we are even having this discussion here in America but we are. I believed this would be the last place on the planet this would happen. BUT I will not give up on our people or the principles on which this country was founded. I feel that as an educator no one is in a better position to protect our citizens from the horrors of unlimited government.

As an American (and one of many millions of us with German ancestry, by the way), it is heartening to hear from Mr. Hakverdi that the alliance between the US and Germany is still strong, despite the political insanity here. As to the woman at the end, I find it very disturbing that she would say journalists shouldn’t try to educate the public. That’s part of what leads to extremists like trump gaining power. That’s also part of the problem with American cable news

The host had a very good point about journalists educating the public. Take inflation, it is worldwide right now, one man or one party cannot solve those issues alone. You can’t however address that in a 12 minute segment. Perhaps they need to produce a special 20-30 minute segment addressing global inflation and wht can and cannot be done by one elected President. As the guest said, they do have to fill a lot of time. As for immigration. It’s funny/sad how the people who are most upset about illegal immigration are those in deep red states many of whom have never even seen or met an illegal immigrant or even a legal one! The areas who mostly vote blu are the ones who have the most immigrants in their areas and know what they bring to the table. Agriculture in this country would die without immigrants!

Trump kept American 💰 from spending it elsewhere. US should use some of those multi billions financial aids to help with their own homeless people

YES BATYA!! How refreshing to see the media accurately report on itself. The division of America is in the headlines not the people. Thank you

"Not my job to educate..."
It IS your job to educate! Democracy and representative democracy does NOT WORK without educated public. If people have no clue about what they have opinions about, or that they're wrong in the base assumptions they make to have those opinions, they WILL be subject to misleading for populist sand being manipulated by forces that be.

Education is the single most important thing for stable and working civilization!
