I can’t believe I’m agreeing with Claire McCaskill 🤦🏻 I think Kamala was definitely being strategic when she shut down those protesters on the first rally she wanted to show strength and then she softened her stance to show that she’s willing to listen and meet at them half way.. people underestimating that woman made a HUGE MISTAKE.

I was in Chicago in ‘68 as my father was producing the news coverage for CBS. As an 11 year old at the time, we were told to stay in the hotel room, literally looking down on the riots and smelling a bit of the smoke and tear gas through the hotel air conditioning system. It was one of those things you never forget.

Now we know the answer to the musical question:"Whatever became of Hubert?". It is a part of history.

I'm 65. I would be turning 10 on December 9th of that year. I remember watching this on TV with my Father. Kent State was two years later. Don't think Republicans won't try something this year.

1968 is NOT 2024. I have no idea why the media always points to the past as if it can help us today. The world is a completely different place than it was in 1968. Americans are not the same from 2015. Let’s focus on now and stop looking to the past.

Founding Father and 2nd President John Adams was right, we Americans need to have some sort of qualification in order to vote. Whether by property ownership or passing some kind of adult civics knowledge exam given by their state. Majority of voters on the right and left have limited knowledge of how public affairs actually work and how government operates. 18-25 year old Americans blaming Harris for the Israel/Palestine conflict shows an extreme lack of world affairs knowledge, that conflict has been happening over 50 years, and will continue for 100 years and beyond. And millions of Americans believing Trump will single handedly mass deport 10-15 million people shows an extreme lack in understanding how national policy operates

In the 1960s southern voters left the Democratic Party and moved to the Republicans due to the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act being put into law by the Johnson administration, which offended the long-term "Dixiecrats"

Joe - "It wasn't just the convention. . ."

No, it was the Civil Rights Act.

I watched Chicago 1968 on TV just prior to joining the Air Force to avoid being drafted during Vietnam. I just wished the protests could have shut down the war sooner because I ended up in the war for 16 months anyway. The 1960s is one of the most tumultuous decades in American history, especially within the last 100 years. The 1968 DNC in Chicago is one of the many reasons why the 60s were tumultuous.
