My therapist has referred to making lace is much like life with complex trauma. Holding on to all the pieces & weaving something beautiful & complicated. Thank you for sharing this.

My Grandmother made crochet lace. Her specialty was crochet snowflake Christmas ornaments. All of her grandchildren, including me, have at least 2 dozen that go on our tree each year. She has been gone now for over 20 years. She was so beloved for her snowflakes that there is one carved on her headstone.

As a 'serial' fiber crafter...the time spent connecting with people and new learning that makes the effort all the more sweeter AND necessary in this digital heavy world. Great video❤

I SO envy the talent of lace-makers. I grew up w/ my mother always using doilies to decorate our home & in the 38 yrs since I started housekeeping myself I've always used doilies to decorate with. I use them as covers for the arms of chairs, under whatnots & as wall-hangings. I've had a few people tell me doilies were old-fashioned; I don't think so but don't care if they are. I love them & think they're beautiful. 🧵🪡🪢

I've taught myself crochet lace, knitted lace, Armenian lace, tatting and now working on bobbin lace. They should have included tatted lace as well! However, in this day and age, I'm glad they featured it at all so I'm thankful. Maybe the newer generation will see this and a spark will be ignited. That's what happened to me as a little girl and I've been doing it most of my life. It would be a shame for this treasure to be lost in time.

Crochet lace is one that cannot be duplicated by machine.

Once again CBS Sunday Morning this is the type of story I value you for doing. Nothing political but everyone sharing no matter their age or personal beliefs. I love it.

After 40 years of wanting to learn this craft, the learned the skills within this past year from YouTube. I’m already designing my own patterns. Interesting that it shows up on Sunday Morning at this time in my life.

I can't believe how beautiful these are, every time I see them. And what your reporter experienced with his hands is called muscle memory. Crafting is not the only way this phenomenon can be put to use either; gaming, learning a musical instrument, operating machinery, typing. Hell thanks to my muscle memory laid down in the third grade I can type accurately without looking at the keys and at speed.

There’s different kinds of lace… Irish lace, bobbin lace, etc. I’m thrilled to see this in the news.

I should’ve watched the entire video before I posted. I’m still thankful my passion made your show.

Nice spot😊 As a shuttle tatter, I wish they would have also featured a snippet of tatting, though❤

They forgot tatting as a form of lace making. 2 years ago I sent CBS a gold tatted sun with over 750 beads, along with a letter explaining the history and art of tatting and names of recognized experts in the field. I'm disappointed. Not because they didn't show the object I sent, but because they didn't mention the craft of tatting.
