Poilievre looks to Christian voters for support before Canadian elections

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is putting in early work to win over voters before the next federal election, even though it could come as late as October 2025.

Poilievre’s efforts include campaign-style visits to evangelical Christian churches in Liberal ridings.

As David Akin explains, while evangelicals don't play as active a role in politics in Canada compared to the U.S., the Tories are courting their votes.

Somehow Christians are the only religious group not allowed to get involved in politics, despite being the largest religious group in Canada and the one most targeted by political violence (the 100+ churches attacked by arsonists, which Trudeau somehow never mentions in his endless speeches about islamophobia and anti-semitism).

It's no different when Trudeau campaigns in mosques, synagogues, gurdwaras, and other places of worship. What's the big deal? As a politician, you need to seek out your crowd.

Weird how Justin visits mosques and synagogues all the time but when Pierre visits churches it's suddenly a "toxic" problem that needs to be analyzed by some talking head Karen.

Why are you trying to make Christianity a bad thing?

I'm pretty sure that Pierre wants ALL Canadian voters to stand with him. Not just one demographic !!!

My My. I didn't see such reactions when PP visited mosques or temples or other religious institutions.

When politicians visit mosques, temples or recognize these religions or communities it's respected. Why is it that Canadians have a problem when Christians are recognized and treated with the same respect? Global once again your bias is showing, and that's very pitiful.

Not sure why there's an issue with this to be honest. Poilievre did nothing wrong, if anything I respect him for doing this

Poilievre does not have to seek out Christians, they are drawn to his policies and message

Pierre gets my vote. I do not believe in any traditional deity, but I believe in personal freedom and freedom to raise our children

A large part of his leadership campaign was appealing to the various religious groups. To point out Christians, when he's has been selling his ideas to other faiths as well, is extremely disingenuous. But what can you expect from a hack like David Akin.

I respect him so much more seeing him actually talk to Christian’s, instead of treating them like garbage. All people should be treated with respect, not just minority religions which actually is more likely to be Christian now. I believe there are more Muslims, and Hindus in the GTA now than there are Christians. How can you disagree with a man who respects everyone equally??

This report was mildly bigoted. Global news can do better.
