Came here as I have a new job in an Indian Restaurant. I want to work really hard to learn the menu quickly and know what I am taking out. The people have been so kind to me aswell and so I want to make sure I work really hard for them 🙌 also for myself.

Wow this video is as accurate as a broken thermometer. Who said that licking your fingers is looked down upon in India? It is frowned upon in Western cultures. Indians eat as they want to. There are no hard and fast rules.

Also, it is impossible to condense 'Indian food' into a 3 minute video. Way too much diversity..

am An Indian and just to say licking your finger isn't disrespectful, it's actually considered quite of a compliment for many chefs, And also if your taste buds are burning I have few dishes for you

rasgulla - tasty ball white ball of sweet water (cold)

kagukaatli - a nutty candy made with cashews.

Chutneys are not going to be brought out with bread... you’ll have to order them specifically!

The most common chutneys offered will be:
Green - cilantro and mint based, possibly with green chilies.
Tamarind-date - sweet and tangy
Raita - plain yogurt with some seasonings and finely diced cucumber, it’s used to relieve the heat of the spicier dishes.

Naan/Roti is part of the main course meant to be eaten with the gravy/curry dishes not starters, otherwise the video is great :) 😃

2:46 Naan, Rice and curry, altogether? That's not the way. Aah. My heart. And there's nothing wrong in licking fingers in the 'Indian Culture'. Also, Samosa with raita? Bad research.

Lassi is traditionally enjoyed at the end of a meal as a refreshing drink that aids digestion. Eating naan without a curry, gravy dish, or kebab is like having pasta without sauce—the magic happens when you dip the naan in the gravy or wrap it around a kebab. Samosas and pakoras are typically enjoyed as tea-time snacks. Tandoori dishes, on the other hand, are generally very spicy, with their red color acting as a warning sign. It's not meant to tone down the spice. Lastly, licking one's fingers is considered a compliment to the cook—it's common to hear the phrase "ungli chaat te reh jao ge" to describe the deliciousness of a meal or a dish at a restaurant.

Wow indian food can be quite a treat every so often. Since it's heavy on spices I wouldn't be able to eat it all the time but sparingly it could be great
