Bride Wears Wedding Dress Passed Down for 7 Decades

These brides all share something in common. They all got married in the same wedding dress. Eight women from one family have worn the same wedding gown over the past seven decades. The tradition started with Adele Larson, who purchased the satin gown for her wedding in 1950 for $100. She then passed it on to her sister Ellie, who also then passed along the dress to her other sister. Seventy-two years later, Serena became the eighth bride and third generation to wear the family heirloom at her wedding.

how nice it must be to have a family that values tradition, let alone a family.

I can't believe the dress hasn't been ruined after so many years and so many wears. I hope it continues to be passed down for many more generations. What a sweet tradition! 💖

What's even MORE amazing is that the dress does not look like it was ever altered to fit into contemporary styling. That being said, the style was pretty timeless. Great story!

The dress isn't my personal style, but the sentimental tradition is so beautiful! I hope they continue.

Can you imagine what the person who sat down to sew this particular dress feel if they knew what beautiful tradition this dress went on to be part of? 😯 It wasn't just used once and then put away, love it!

There was no way that I could have fit into my mother's wedding dress, even if I wanted to wear it. My mom is 5' 2'', while I am 5' 5''. I also weighed a lot more when I got married than when she got married. It's amazing to me that all these women were around the same height/weight when they got married.

That is so beautiful. I love family traditions or hearing stories of items being passed down in the family. Makes for a stronger family ☺️

My family doesn't have a dress like that but we do have a cake topper. It was first used on a cake celebrating the 65th anniversary of my great grandparents, It's been on a total of fourteen wedding and anniversay cakes since. My parents had it three times, wedding, 50th and 60th anniversary and most recently for my sister's 40th anniversary.
