Vos on Anthropomorphism in Scripture

Whenever we speak of the emotional and affectional disposition of God toward to his creatures, we enter what Geerhardus Vos calls a "sphere of anthropomorphism." Anthropomorphic language renders God's actions towards his creation in terms borrowed from the creature. Following Scripture, we may speak of God anthropomorphically but only in such a way that we deny that he literally possesses creaturely qualities.

It is concerning to me that men like Frame, Carson, Oliphint… have left the traditional understanding regarding divine impassability failing to understand anthropomorphisms and anthropopathisms in favor of a “suffering” God and the use of univocal language.
