That's a terrible edit. It implies Banjo and Kazooie brutally dismembered Gruntilda and put her inside her clothing

Note that:
1. This change is not applied in the Japanese XBLA version as it is based off the NTSC-U/C original version.
2. The Japanese version of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Banjo to Kazooie no Daibouken: Garage Daisakusen) uses footage of the American version of Banjo-Tooie along with its English logo during the recap segment of the intro, complete with Grunty's skull intact. Perhaps that was why the change was undone for Banjo-Tooie XBLA in order to maintain consistency.

It's mainly because depicting beheading of any kind is banned in Japan, unless you want a Adult Only rating.

Censored Gaming you should take a look at Totally Rad “aka Magic John in Japan” and Dynamite Heady, both had some interesting changes when localized.

Grunty had her eyes gouged out and was then fed into a woodchipper like in Rumble in the Bronx. At least that's my interpretation.

It's a lot darker than a skeleton being decapitated, that's for sure.

Speaking of Banjo-Kazooie: This is so far the only gaming series I'm aware of, that still hasn't gotten a remastered version like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
