Dr. Alla Shapiro - Chernobyl: 35 Years Later - RRS Webinar April 23, 2021

In recognition of the 35th anniversary of Chernobyl, it is our honor to host Dr. Alla Shapiro. Dr. Shapiro was one of the first physician responders and researchers to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, where she was sent to some of the most radiation contaminated areas. There, she witnessed the disastrous impact Chernobyl had on families, responders and the community. After immigrating to the US, her experiences during that devastating time inspired her impactful career as one of the world’s leading experts in MCMs against radiation exposure. Her resume boasts: Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist, CBRN Countermeasures Expert, former medical Officer for Counter-Terrorism and Emergency-Coordination Division of the FDA, member of the Meabco advisory board, working to develop medical countermeasures against radiation and author of Doctor on Call: Chernobyl Responder, Jewish Refugee, Radiation Expert. Chernobyl: 35 Years Later, is part 2 of Dr. Shapiro's webinars. This webinar will be data-focused and highlight the research surrounding Chernobyl.
