Paragliding, Himalaya. Very big thermal, up to 13m/s.

During a 1500km Bivouac Flight in Karakorum, Indu Kouch and Himalaya in Pakistan. Damien LACAZE and Antoine Girard took a huge thermal up to 13m/s until 6900m !
Turn on the sound and... Hang on !

10 m.s vario has constant sound no beep and the world falls from under you feet in two seconds. Amazing height and beautiful flight. Lucky you.

Wow! I would be sporting some Oxygen, just in case ;) I have been in brief lift like that, felt like going up a fast elevator. It must have felt like that when you hit it!

Hallo Damien. Was it a gps-calculated vertical climb indicator or an atmospheric one. (based on pressure sensor)?
The indications are probably true, I had 6 m/s behind the Mont Blanc over Courmayeur.

Do you have GPS track, so to check pressure theory, are vario and altimeter reading is the same?

It's high altitude so pressure drop with every meter is more rapid than usual. That is why vario register +13m/s instead of +5m/s, let's say.
