Discord’s New Free Nitro Feature... that’s actually good?

Discord made a whole new feature called "Nitro Credits", where you can earn free Discord nitro. However, when it comes to Discord being generous, I get skeptical...

In this case though, these free Discord nitro credits are pretty good. They do have a pretty obvious flaw, the amount of nitro you get. But it opens the doors to a future where Discord somehow makes money while allowing us to save money by not buying nitro. All thanks to Discord's quest feature.

Hopefully there's a quest to teach people how to touch grass though.

Not needing a credit card for the Nitro credits and even getting that one day of free Nitro if you already pay is exactly how I would want it implemented, so someone at Discord finally looked at it from the user's and not the corporate perspective. Very nice!

To be honest, if the 1 day of nitro gave you the boosts, it would be pointless since the boost would disappear after a day. I don't think anyone would like if their server only had boosting perks for like a single day. (tho I know boosts dont go until 3 days)

The biggest perk is that there is no 1-year waiting period after using a nitro trial. If they expand this more, it will mean people will be able to keep nitro going longer by continuing to complete quests. I am kind of surprised they are letting existing nitro users just add an extra day as this effects their bottom line, but since it seems Discord is grasping at straws on monetization methods, they really don't have anything else to offer and don't want nitro subscribers to feel left out.

awhile ago (maybe a few months) there was also like free nitro for like a week which was pretty cool. I hope discord keeps this up ngl

I actually got a version of this quest about 2 months ago which had 15m of an activity (same as this one) for *1 whole month of free nitro.*

This was much different from the current nitro credits though. *It displayed ur badge, gave 2 boosts and everything, *

It also *DID go into your reccuring subscriptions tab, but it never actually asked for credit card details*

I'm super surprised it disables buying boosts entirely for a day though - you'd think they'd still want to be able to let people buy boosts at the normal, non-Nitro price.
Pretty impressive though, a win win where we're fine with Discord adding ads!
