How Do Neon Lights REALLY Work..

Welcome back to Creative Focus. Neon signs light up the night sky. These colorful glass tubes can be bent to form shapes or spell out words. Neon lights get their name from the gas that some of the tubes are filled with. It is this gas that produces the color. Neon is one of a group of elements called the noble gases. A neon light contains a tiny amount of neon gas under low pressure. Electricity provides energy to strip electrons away from neon atoms, ionizing them. Ions are attracted to terminals of the lamp, completing the electric circuit. Light is produced when neon atoms gain enough energy to become excited. When an atom returns to a lower energy state, it releases a photon (light).

Each noble gas glows a specific color when electricity is passed through it, and the gases can be mixed to create other colors. Reds and oranges are produced by neon, while green is made when argon is put into tubes lined with a green fluorescent coating. Gold is made by combining argon and helium inside a gold glass tube, pink is a mix of argon and xenon, and white is made by pure xenon.

I just received two cool Neon signs from a restaurant that was shut down, no one wanted them so now I have them. They are a bit large, lightweight, and fully functional. The colors are red green white purple and turquoise. I believe they are at least 10 years old. They are bright and amazing. One says Hibachi & Sushi, the other says Teriyaki Chicken.... Score!!!!

- Voltage isn't a measure of power consumption; Watts is.
- LED arrays can display 3D content if you make the array three-dimensional.

I just started working for a company that repairs every type of sign. They have one sole individual person who makes all the neon replacement tubes for us. He has a huge work area in the shop… everyone still is like. “Idk what they’re gonna do when he retires” 😂

Neon lights are more efficient than halogen, incandescent, and fluorescent. Leds are more efficient that is true, but neon is very efficient, contrary to the info in this video

1. Volts are not power, Watts are. 15kV at 0.001A uses less power than 3v at 10A.
2. You showed a LOT of stock videos of LEDs, not neon tubes, while talking about neon tubes.

As a nerd I prefer plasma over the L-word. I will not use cheap chinese L** lamps.

I still prefer CCFL tubes over LED lights.
LED strips are lame....
You need a diffuser but you can still see the individual LED's
That's why my future ps4 pro case mod will get CCFL tubes instead of LED lighting.
Just like I did back in the day with my ps2 case mod.
We didn't even have LED strips back then.😂
And CCFL tubes give a nice and uniform glow.
You can't change colors with a remote but it sure does look better!
is anyone still doing CCFL case mods with game consoles these days?
I know from experience it was very popular in the early 2000's.
But when I google CCFL neon mods on ps4 and ps5 I can't find any.😅
I can find clay sculptures built around those consoles but that's not my thing.
Neon mods are way cooler imo!😁
My ps4 pro will get blue and pink CCFL tubes.
