A school in Isleworth says it’s so cash strapped it wants to reduce the school week by closing lunchtime on a Friday. St Mary's Catholic Primary School were consulting parents on the proposal. Many are concerned about the extra child-care costs they'll face and say the process has been mismanaged. Education Reporter Marc Ashdown looks at the plans and the wider picture for school funding.

I started school with a ratio of 1:50, this was reduced to 1:30 now it's 1:13 (including assistants) Far better to increase class size than to reduce hours.
