In this video I finally drive a car I've lusted over for a very long time, the Mk3 SEAT Leon Cupra Ultimate Sub 8 and as a Mk7 GTI Clubsport S owner, I can't help but compare these two very special 'ring record cars.

The way it clearly made you feel when pushing on was just how I felt 2 weeks ago on my test drive in a normal cupra, and I still feel the same about it now ! so the search is on for the right pre face lift 3 door manual for me.

Great car, still can’t afford even a 280! Personally I’d take the Golf is it looks a bit classier. Not digging the orange wheels and mirrors though!

Save your money and take a regular cupra to a remap and do brake upgrade yourself when original discs and pads are done. Same with tyres. Make your own Cupra 360. Only sub 8 you need is for sound system.

Quite illuminating for me, that video - I've always preferred VWs own offerings, but that Cupra is a genuine alternative to the equivalent Golf GTi. It's definitely not a cut price GTi!

Not for me though - I like my comforts too much, like a/c & the premium audio system (although that's easily fixed on a 2nd hand car). I know you don't agree, but I prefer the AWD on the Golf R, I think the Cupra Leon estate had AWD too? Very nice though, the analogue dials are nicer than the VW ones👍

Having the Cupra 280 manual 5dr hatch, I really like the Sub 8 pack. Not the Ultimate part though and totally dislike the Orange pack. Also would like to see better video and audio quality from your videos, it's really lacking there. I feel like the quality was better 2 years ago or so, the image is washed out and not crisp at all. Like your in depth VAG videos, keep it up!

I had a cupra 290 black edition with those wheels and bucket seats. Not a sub 8 edition but probably not that far off. It Was about as fast as my clubsport S but the handling was nowhere near. Throttle response was mush nicer on the clubsport S the cupra had a strange throttle map which never seemed consistent

The cupra had a strange steering rack ratio and the suspension was too harsh compared to the clubsport S

Is it as fast as the club sport S? No it’s some 10 seconds slower. Is it as exclusive as the club sport S which is a limited edition?

I had a CUPRA 290, unfortunately it has a DSG box which I found sucked any fun & engagement at all from the experience, even though it was very smooth and relaxing to drive. Plan to get a CUPRA 3dr Manual wait

Apart from the wheel colour I like it although I would pick the normal cupra 280 for the money
