From what I have gathered, ABBA did not sample Bul Bul Efendi. While yes, ABBA's song did come out a year after Benyamin's, the original vinyl version of Bul Bul Efendi did not include the Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! sample. The YouTube and Spotify versions do, but unfortunately, they were uploaded after 1978.

Might get hate for this one but if you listen to the original release of the Benyamin S track it DOES NOT have famous riff. Only later releases did. Releases after Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! had already gotten major radio circulation in Indonesia.

By artist I mean he's not just a singer, he's a songwriter, actor, comedian, producer, film director, screenwriter, radio host, he's a pioneer with a strong cultural influences of Betawi (native Jakarta) culture in Indonesia.

Sadly he passed away in 1999 because of heart attack during football match.
