This is the new Fellow Ode Gen 2. A revision to 2020’s arguably most anticipated coffee product. On the outside, there’s not a lot that looks different. But, they have made a few changes that make this a nice upgrade from the original.

Thank you as always for the aesthetically pleasing and smooth drinking reviews. All nice looking upgrades. As an Ode Gen 1 owner with SSP MP burrs I'm going to spin the original grinder flaws as features; I don't RDT to encourage static. This keeps the chaff and fines in the grinder. I then bang on the lid and the knocker before my next grind and pitch the mess that drops out. Requires more faffing around but on paper should produce a better cup.

I have the Gen2 burrs in a grinder at home. Yes grinding pretty close to burr chirp can give you a fine enough grind to pull medium roast shots on my La Pavoni (49mm).

Very cool innovation with the static/ionizer. Now I need to figure out how to implement that on my modded home grinders.

Just picked up the Ode early this year when it came out in white. SSP burrs are definitely a curiosity but the 2.0 burr set feels like a more worth while upgrade after nearly a year in.

Really enjoying my Ode gen 2. Curious if you see value in doing burr alignment on these grinders? I’ve been considering doing it, but not sure if it’s worth the time invested. I’ve heard some even say that it’s barely noticeable after aligning.

What range do you recommend for Chemex brewing with the Ode 2?

I bought an ode grinder for $400 dollars and the motor died after using twice a day for two years. 1 year warranty. Fellow did not offer parts to fix or repair. Best they could do was 10% off another expensive grinder of theirs. I have a Baratza that tastes just as good- much better in fact when everytime I look at the broken fellow I think of how they got $400 out of me for a 2 year grinder. The Baratza has lasted me seven years and I can buy parts to easily fix, so tbh that alone makes me wayyy happier everytime I use it!! Fellow is hype imo and a good way to send your money to a company overcharging you for poorer quality than other brands.

I wonder if the anti chaff is a mod available for the gen 1?

I currently use the Baratza Encore as my brew grinder. Would you recommend this as an upgrade?

I don't do fancy chemex or v60. I just use a Bonavita drip machine and grind with a Capresso Infinity conical burr grinder. Would the Ode 2 make much of a difference in the final taste of the coffee compared to my existing grinder?

I see this a lot advertised for French press. Is this also good for espresso?

You said the new burrs can do 250-300 Microns? that's in the Espresso range, any chance you can do a short with it set to 0 and see how it tastes as an espresso? Thanks

I was wondering what would be better, Pair this with the Niche so I can have Filter coffee and espresso or go with the P64 with MP Burs

it looks strange like an old church clock or locomotive. Feels ugly.
